little next door

one of my favorite lunch spots is little next door in Los Angeles, CA.  i came here with a couple of my good friends for a birthday lunch and i fell for this place because of the atmosphere! it is a casual french brasserie tucked in LA, where you can just catch up with friends and hang out.

i got the Trio of Roasted Beets salad, which was composed of almond crusted goat cheese, arugula with orange ginger vinaigrette. it was so fresh with the orange, and the goat cheese gave the salad body. mmm. and the beets were amazing as always! all my favorite things!!! AHHHH! YES!

as an appetizer we tried the Escargot de Bourgogne in garlic parsley butter.  i was honestly weirded out at first because it is SNAILS!! (my friend larissa’s LEAST favorite thing ever) but it was pretty good. the texture was different, a little more chewy, but the loads of garlic was all i tasted. muy bien!

The turkey panini with pommes frites was a little salty but super filling. It is made up of the house roasted turkey, smoked bacon, avocado, wild arugula and I had the tomato pesto with it instead of thousand island (sadly the worst dressing ever to me!)

oOHhhHHhh the mussels were BOMBDIGGS. the mussel pieces were thick, juicy, so moist, and like pillows of butter in texture. almost DRANK the broth, but had to stop myself.  the moules frites, steamed mussels in creamy white wine and shallot sauce with pommes frites,  are are must get if you ever go!!

my friend ordered the trio of pate’s and she went CRAZY with it. spread it on bread like mad and chomped away. the cornichons are always so to cute to me. small, crunchy, and got a tarty bite!

although the three of us were stuffed, we had to try the Soufflé au Chocolat. and praise the Lord that we did because it was one of the BEST chocolate soufflé’s i have ever tried. crunchy on the outside, yet so moist on the inside. normally i don’t like too much chocolate, but you pour the vanilla bean sauce into the Soufflé, which makes the bread just soak up the sauce…. drool. almost slurped up the dessert by myself.

 until next time,

e
